His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew published encyclicals and initiated conferences on ecological issues for more than thirty years. His Holiness Pope Francis published a seminal encyclical and publicly spoke on climate change from the outset of his ministry. Together the two leaders present a unified approach and prophetic voice on the inseparable relationship

between sustainability of the planet and salvation of the world.

Ἐγὼ περὶ αὐτῶν ἐρωτῶ· οὐ περὶ τοῦ κόσμου ἐρωτῶ, ἀλλὰ περὶ ὧν δέδωκάς μοι, ὅτι σοί εἰσι, καὶ τὰ ἐμὰ πάντα σά ἐστι καὶ τὰ σὰ ἐμά, καὶ δεδόξασμαι ἐν αὐτοῖς. Η εποχή απαιτούσε μια εικόνα
Του επιταχυνομένου της μορφασμού,
Κάτι για τη σύγχρονη σκηνή,
Όχι πάντως χάρη Αττική∙

Όχι, όχι βέβαια, τους σκοτεινούς ρεμβασμούς
Της ενόρασης∙
Καλύτερα ψευδολογίες
Παρά κλασικούς σε παράφραση!

Η «εποχή απαιτούσε» κυρίως ένα γύψινο εκμαγείο,
Φτιαγμένο δίχως απώλεια χρόνου,
Μια πρόζα κινηματογραφική, όχι, ασφαλώς όχι, αλάβαστρο
Ή το «λάξευμα» της ρίμας.

Το ρόδινο φόρεμα για τσάι, κ.τ.λ.
Εκτοπίζει της Κω τη μουσελίνα,
Η πιανόλα «αντικαθιστά»
Της Σαπφώς τη βάρβιτο.

Ο Χριστός ακολουθεί το Διόνυσο,
Φαλλικός κι αμβρόσιος
Παραμέρισε για τις νηστείες∙
Ο Caliban αποκηρύσσει τον Ariel.

Τα «πάντα ρει»
Λέει ο σοφός Ηράκλειτος∙
Μια κακόγουστη όμως φτήνεια
Θα επιβιώσει από τις ημέρες μας.

Ακόμη κι η Χριστιανική ομορφιά
Αποστατεί – μετά τη Σαμοθράκη∙
Βλέπουμε το καλόν
Θεσπισμένο στην αγορά.

Του Φαύνου η σάρκα δε μας ανήκει,
Μήτε του αγίου τ’ όραμα.
Αντί όστιας έχουμε τον Τύπο∙
Αντί περιτομής την ψήφο.

Ίσοι κατά το νόμο, οι πάντες,
Απαλλαγμένοι από τον Πεισίστρατο,
Επιλέγουμε έναν απατεώνα ή έναν ευνούχο
Να μας κυβερνήσει.

Ω λαμπρέ Απόλλωνα,
τιν’ άνδρα, τιν’ ήρωα, τίνα θεόν,
Σε ποιον θεό, άνδρα, ή ήρωα
